My Scuba Diving Journey

My relationship with the water started long before I ever took my first breath from a regulator. Born on the seaside, water has always been my happy place—the one environment where everything above the surface fades away. When I was young, my uncle gave me a few old bottles he had found while diving. At the time, I didn’t realize it, but those worn artifacts were the spark that would later grow into a lifelong passion.

As I progressed through my training and grew as a diver, I faced my share of personal challenges. Instead of holding me back, these experiences shaped the way I dive today. They taught me empathy, patience, and the importance of always seeing the world from another diver’s perspective. Whether someone is brand new or highly experienced, I try to think the way a diver thinks—anticipating needs, understanding anxieties, and respecting the water and the people who enter it.

I’ve always said I don’t care where I dive, as long as I’m underwater. The type of site never mattered to me; being beneath the surface is enough. I’d dive in a puddle if it meant I got to be submerged. The water isn’t just a place I visit—it’s where I feel most myself.

Today, I’m working toward my OW Instructor, building on the foundation of my Assistant Instructor certification. Sharing my passion is where I see my future in diving. There’s nothing like the look on someone’s face when they take their first breath underwater, or when they suddenly realize they’re capable of something they never imagined. Helping new divers feel comfortable, confident, and excited about the water is what drives me forward.

For me, diving is more than a hobby—it’s community, personal growth, and a lifestyle built on passion. It’s about sharing the magic of the underwater world with others and being part of something bigger than myself. My story is still unfolding, one student and one dive at a time.
